Easter Rail Blockade
Client - Network Rail Kent Route
Network Rail undertook a complex renovation of 9 stations on the Hither Green Blockade. Enable Logistics managed welfare and site arrangements for this short but intense project. The company integrated with the client team to plan possession access and utilized ISO9001 processes for task planning. Enable Resourcing provided skilled staff. During Easter, welfare was provided for over 300 workers across a 30-mile stretch, with each station presenting unique logistical challenges. Deliveries and collections occurred outside normal hours in challenging conditions. The project involved providing and maintaining welfare facilities, site access control, security for remote locations, and final site clearance across all 9 stations.
The project
This project was part of a Station enhancement works package for Network Rail. In order to limit disruption to the public as much as possible the work was planned to be as intensive as possible and completed in the shortest duration.
The challenge
The challenge was to shut 9 Railway Stations over the Easter weekend and complete all work having the ready for the public for their Monday morning commute. Over 300 workers spread over a 30 mile stretch of the network had to be controlled and looked after with suitable welfare facilities allowing them to complete the work safely and efficiently . Every station brought its own logistical challenge with most of the delivery and collections being carried out of normal working hours at night in poor weather.
The solution
Logisitics are fully integrated into the Enable team and our client to ensure that possession access was planned in line with our works to be completed. Utilizing our extensive possession planning experience and ISO9001 certified processes to ensure that possession tasks were suitably planned.
Enable Resourcing supplied the skilled and competent staff to complete the works. During the Easter blockade over 9 Railway stations were tackled simultaneously with welfare provided for over 300 workers over a 30 mile stretch of the network.
